Default Martin Cougar Magnum question for the peanut gallery.

A friend of mine has a Martin Cougar Magnum compound bow that is in need of new cables. A very capable and well known local archery store has told him his only option is a new bow. That strikes me as implausible. Any thoughts or solutions. The guy got it as a gift and wants to continue to shoot it.

Looks like that's an old bow. Perhaps it's in poor condition. I'd imagine a bow shop wouldn't want to put a string on something they didn't trust to hold up.

That's a 1990s bow, if not a 1980s bow, I think, because I had one. I'm with Joe, if I were a shop, I wouldn't want the liability either. Maybe a trip to Martin, they can replace the limbs, cables, cams? (you'd still have your riser?) They would have an interest in doing a refurb, as it comes apart, it's their liability...
