Here's my "improved" Late Season. Added pals matrix tabs to the upper sides and lower front. Tied a Guide Lid on top just messing around but think it would work of I needed it up there.

    Bill,

I think I'd look at G-Hooks for those straps instead of threading/unthreading through the buckle to get into that crafty zipper.. Could slip right into the loop holding the buckle too. Cool mods.

I use my old G1 MollEx a ton even for overnight snowshoe trips, adding pockets with less heavy stuff outside organizes it well too. I've been using an XTL on mine with long pockets. I made some field expedient male buckles and used some crafty gadgets that Firecog shared with Widowshooter. (They're awesome, thread through PALS and allow adding buckles perpendicular to PALS) Need to post a pic...

    Nice thread, AO6!

You definitely put up a pic or six of those buckle sets Firecog made. They are pretty slick.

You were showing your neck strength and coordination by taking it upside down......

    Hanging by knees...

    Here's my humble MollEx

And a little magic from Firecog (think Kifaru Legos)

And a "field expedient male buckle" 5 seconds per buckle with a hacksaw...

    Better pic for context

    Part of the XTL mount

A shot of Firecog's magic buckles staking it down.

I've also slammed up to 4 long pockets on (1 underneath, 3 around the body) which works okay if the heavy stuff is inside. No real magic there. Except maybe those flush mount female buckles that Lineman78 found & we group ordered...

And my mashup Nomad/MollEx nonsense that actually carries pretty well...

And here's where I hate it...

I don't like the lid + long pocket combo, or maybe need to use more of these on the long pockets instead of the pack. Or, instead of all of the pocket goofiness, just use the ZXR. I do see a lot of potential for these little gems though. Thanks again Widowshooter for sharing those!! (truth is, there are pieces & parts from a ton of folks on this forum, it takes a village, and I'm your idiot)

Here's one with longs, no lid.

I think it's one or the other, or the lid on the ZXR if I need the room. Really do like the lid better than the Scout as a lid, but, another night of some fiddling may change that.

Thanks for starting the thread AO6!
