I thought the same thing, was lucky I had one. Then I used it for a few weeks at work and realized it was not the pack I wanted. If the stays were longer if keep it, but they hinder the performance I need to have for the loads I carry at work so it's basically unusable. It's too bad because I really like the features of this pack.
The Loco was essentially a jungle ruck. Mel made a very military specific pack which was essentially a modernised short-back bergen.
It was never going to be a huge seller but if you were going to be ducking under tree-stumps, floating down rivers with it being used as a flotation device, and chucking it down a hill into the back of a 4x4, it was the perfect pack
Try doing that with a 24" framed high-speed, low-drag, 'operator approved' 500d pack!
Saying that, I don't work in the jungle anymore and have since sold the pack!
