Re: Road Trip
Hey Patrick, totally agree with you on sling usage for field game shooting. I've tried it and found it's too slow, too much movement etc.
I am very interested in trying to come up with some small game loads for my 308 win and 264 win mag. If you have info on either of these two I would love to give it a try.
thanks

Re: Road Trip
Zane, allow me to congratulate you on possessing a 264 Win Mag. Oh my what a dandy ray gun that is!
Here we go:
Use magnum primer.
Use either IMR 4227, H110, or W296 powders.
Use inexpensive somewhat frangible bullets. Plain old lead with copper jacket.
—308:
125gr bullets...17gr powder
150gr bullets...19gr powder
—264:
120gr bullets...18gr powder
100gr bullets...16gr powder
Let us know what you think....

Re: Road Trip
Patrick,
it is indeed a ray gun! I inherited it from my Grandfather and while growing up, I was with him when he took at least 3 elk and a few muley's with it. I took my first elk with it and my youngest son did as well. Lots of fond memories with the old gun.
Thanks much for the recipes. I will give them a try when I get done with my work travels. Looking especially forward to the 264...will let you know.
