The last paragraph is particularly significant. I must be a cynic, because that is how it looks to me at this time. Zimmerman will make his own decision but I would NEVER plead guilty to a crime I did not commit, regardless of the charge or the possible consequence.

There is a degree of drift in all conversations - because they are conversations, not classroom lectures. In this case the media coverage (very much on point) led to a brief discussion of left and right in the political sense. "Extreme right" was defined as wanting no government at all and "extreme left" as being government control of everything so communism, fascism and socialism are all parts of the same "left", anarchy is "right" and because most of us think some governement is practical and desirable we fall into the category of "constitutional moderates". The Nazis are the better known of the facist crowd and that is how Nazi Germany got into the discussion. Hope this helps.

So, Andy, If I think you are following me I am justified in assaulting you? The ME found that Martin had a close-range gunshot wound and no other mark on his body. Both participants were fairly much the same size and weight, and Zimmerman had a broken nose and contusions on the back of his head.

Actually, getting arrested was probably the best thing for Zimmerman, given the hoorah about this case and the threats to his person. He is probably safer in jail and now the legal processes of submitting evidence can begin. I await such presentation before reaching any conclusions about this case.

It's hard to know what is "truth" and what is fabrication and poor recollection (even during and after the expected trial), but one thing you seem to have wrong here is that he was reportedly on his phone talking to a girl friend. One of the things she supposedly "reported" in her listened-to discussion with the TM's family's lawyer is that when TM noticed he was being observed he put his hood up.

Anyway, he had the means to call the police had he wanted to rather than apparently trying to further hide his identity.

He was a teenager/young man. All the ones near me put their hood up if they feel insecure. My Missus (and I ) have raised a few kids - mostly grown now, I know many of their friends who are in no way gang members or criminals but would be very loath to call the Police directly. They'd call friends first. There is just a massive distrust amongst young people for authority.

We all know drawing any actual conclusions from the publicly made reports is foolish and that there are a lot of vested interests at play. Sadly for all involved I don't think everything will really be cleared up afterwards, justice and the truth will likely get muddy. But it's a least worth trying to find it.

A lot of people are shouting racism etc. What I was trying to show is that there could be an explanation in which neither man wanted a direct confrontation at all. Poor choices by both could have easily led to it happening though. I still believe that as CCW carrier George Zimmerman got in over this head and had more of a resposibility to think about his actions than someone who was not.

I had written a more detailed train of thought for my first post but the it timed out and I lost the bit about Trayvon's phone. I've read conflicting reports (like most things).

Ralph, I agree with you about the arrest. As to the justification for the assault, how the confrontation went down, will anyone but GZ ever know? At what point did he draw his weapon? If some was following you, making calls, pulls up close in a vehicle thens steps out close to you. Would you turn your back and run, he can get back in the vehicle after all, maybe you'd tell that someone to back off, if he had his hand on his gun at that point what would you do?

At some point George states they were hands on and the physical evidence seems to reflect this. So it's likey the confrontation was close up and personal when it started. I'm sure we're all aware just how dangerous a firearm can be to the person carrying it at very close contact and therefore why to avoid this.

What I am saying is that GZ's actions seem to be more causal and I believe that is the angle the prosecution will go down.

Yes there are some very ambitious people who seem to want to use the case to promot their careers.

I concurr with Jak, Snakey, and Kmassaro's beliefs about this one and that GZ may well get shafted even if he acted in good faith. However I also believe that the polarisation of opinion is counter productive, if inevitible. I think the sequence ogf evens could have happened without either person being a neo-nazi or a gangbanger. Just people caught in a series of unfortunate events.

It is unfortunate and often sad it sometimes takes a tragedy or bad experience to bring out a problem in society, the law and in this case an administration and media who slants the truth. But if you look hard and willing to wait long enough....something good can almost always come out of something bad. Someone in the future may live, get a fair trial or prevent a tragedy because of this "series of unfortunate events."

Like the young woman from Oklahoma who defended her child and herself from two men breaking in her home with a knife in their hand a month or two ago that the media doesn't want to remind people about when they bring up what happened to Zimmerman. Remember -- 911 -- is something you call after the fact. It's not like you dail 911 to schedule an appointment a week in advance to prevent a violent crime against a good, honest law-abiding citizen.. But the media will not wait....being first is more imporant to them than being accurate. They want to post a picture of a 12 year old boy instead of an accurate picture of the 17 year old, 175-200 pound 6'2''-6'3'' teenager, weight lifter and football player that is now being reported almost a month after the fact and damage was inflicted.

Why would they not want to report the truth you might ask??? Think about that? The media and this administration have a very evil agenda they want to force upon America. They want to desensitize, confuse and divide the American people so they won't stand up against them as they attempt to turn people into subjects instead of citizens. They don't want to help people help themselves. They want people to become dependent on them and their bs programs to justify their exsistence. They are testing the American people as they take away your Rights more and more everyday. They are testing the American people with tyranny by the constant attacks on YOUR First Amendment Rights like Freedom of Religion and YOUR Second Amendment Rights to protect yourself, your state and YOUR country against a tyrannical governmant. It's up to you to read beteen the lines and Stand Together and prevent this from happening, especially this November where you will vote against more governmant and less freedom or vote for More Freedom and less government.

On the way back from a recent trip to St. Louis I could hear radio stations are now starting to report all the unheard cases that the typical media wants to avoid where criminals commit violent crimes against honest law-abiding citizens across this nation. Everyone wants a solution but no one wants to be the victim or person making the sacrifice like Brian Aitken from Colorado who was commuted by Governor Chritie due to over-regulated anti-gun laws against the law-abiding citizens that resulted in the arrest of an innocent man due to "unintended consequences" and laws created by the liberal democrats and media that slants the truth that place more accountability and blame on the law-abiding citizen than against the criminal.

Well, It appears George Zimmerman has a good lawyer on his side. And this story has really exposed the bias, liberal meida that distorts and slants the truth in favor of this current administration. Stories about victims all through out this country are being told that the media or this administration will not address or report where innocent people were victims. Remember the lady reporter Lara Logan who was brutally raped in Egypt? Remember obama said "we will get those accountable?" Haven't heard him say anything about that again have you? But he took the time comment on the Zimmerman case. Hmmmm???

Well, Ted Nugent had a reply to obama's comment. Nugent said "he has a son who looks like U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry" who was killed by a firearm from a scandal called Operation Fast and Furious.

The obama administration and attorney general eric holder attempted use to push their anti-gun agenda in America through Operation Fast & Furious but something happened they did not anticipate....they got caught.

Fact: This administartion and the media who slants the truth that supports them are working to destroy America. This administration will NOT place any blame on criminals, gangs or illegals and need to be voted out of office. It is time to place blame on this administration.

There is a new motto for this election in 2012....

It is called: "ALL IN"

WE MUST BE ALL IN and Stand Strong against what is taking place in America.

WE MUST ALL STAND TOGETHER AND UNITE and vote this administation out of office.
