Thank you everyone! As always, ya'll are a great source for information, a good laugh and encouraging my gear-lust. I'll be starting off slow, as some suggested, to get a feel. I'd definitely like to have quick turnaround time, but I'm more interested in understanding all the aspects/steps of the process. This is why I believe a turret press will be more advantageous as a beginner than a progressive press as my first press. Maybe even a "Lee Loader" as one-eyed Bob suggested.

I'm still a bit away from purchasing anything, as I have to first convince my better half that it's alright for me to build a bench in our sewing room/office and then getting it built up. Then, probably on to purchase some reloading books.

Thanks again for all your help. It's been and continues to be fun looking up all your suggestions and getting a handle on the requisite gear.

I found this thread interesting, since basic reloading equipment is on my Christmas list as well. Since I'm interested in keeping things simple and cheap (as well as space efficient) the Lee Hand Press looks like a good option, right?

I know it won't be all that fast, but having the basic necessities for reloading sounds good to me right now.

    Mojo,

You've gotten lots of good advice already! Kevin got me rolling my own a number of years ago, and then a neighbor sat down with me on his bench and showed me the ropes. If you have someone you can do that with it really helps. I think I may have a Lee Loader, and if so I'll send it to you. I got started with an RCBS kit and Smoke is right, it has just about everything. I still use my old balance scale, etc. It's pretty amazing the amount of help I've gotten here on the board over the years on everything from the basics to the crafting of the bench that sits in my bedroom (thanks, Don).

    Mojo,

You might look into the Huntington Compac Reloading tool. It will eliminate a permenant bench for the time being and uses conventional loading dies and shell holders. I used one extensively while stationed overseas where a full blown loading bench was unavailable. You still need the rest of the accoutrements, but the kitchen table will generally suffice (I used a TV tray ) and loaded quite a bit of 45 ACP, 9 mm, 243 & 300 Win mag for several years. Eventually you'll need a permenant press, but if space is spare at the moment...
