Smile Kifaru UL field testing photos and vids.

Patrick came down to the ECR and I got a look at all of the KU line of packs. I took a KU5200 on day one and a KU E&E the next day for some testing. To be 100% honest I havenít been following the Kifaru UL lineup that much so didnít know what to expect.

KU5200 before heading out with my snowshoes.

The pack was comfortable and made it though my off trail hiking rather well. There was less webbing lenght on the belt compared to my other kifaru packs and wasnít sure how to horizontally strap a pad to outside of the bag. The suspension felt much like my other Kifaru packs so that was a big positive. Sometimes UL packs fail in the suspension making the load feel heavier. This isnít the case here and that makes the pack a big win in my book.

    Kifaru KU E&E.

I liked the little E&E a bunch. Itís so UL I could use one for both a stuff sack and daypack at no real weight penalty. The pack loads up faster than my standard E&E and held more, maybe the nature of the fabric accounts for this? Not sure but it worked out great.

Not sure if Patrick knew I would head off the trail into the Brush ASAP with his packs. Guessing he did.

I used both of these packs for around 6 hours each so take that into consideration but on the flip side lots of stuff happened during those hours. Good job Kifaru!
