Super Tarp w/annex

My wife and I just did a road trip (celebrating our 25th anniversary) from WA to California's wine country with some quick backcountry trips throughout the trip. I brought my 8 man tipi, Super Tarp, and a MH mountaineering tent along to do some field testing.
We used each one along the way. The ST was the one that saw the most use due to its ease of pitching. But after a few nights in that and then busting out the 8 man..... ahhh - the 8 was pure decadence.
Here are a few shots I thought I would share...
We did the trip while a cold snap hit the area and lows were in the 30's even in wine country.
In the Sisikyous with about 32 degree nighttime temps - the under 3 pound tent/stove package was a comfortable set-up even with two of us in it.

I sure am glad my wife understands that I can only handle just so much of the wine tour and tourist stuff. As beautiful as it was - I am out of my element - and after a while I start crawling out of my skin. It is just too much. Checking out the surrounding backcountry was pretty interesting and my saving grace.

Where the 8 man tipi picture was taken - it was surrounded by vineyards and at night with temps in the 30's they have these big fans that sound like helicopters that circulate the air to keep the plants from freezing. During that night they turned on and off all the time. We both said it was still more peaceful and relaxing than the one hotel we stayed at on the trip.

The Lost Coast area has some cool hike in trips and I have only scratched the surface so far.

Very nice! Are those Tule elk at Point Reyes by chance?

My wife and I went out there a couple years ago and did the wine country tour and stopped at Point Reyes National Seashore which was a really neat area. Unfortunately, I didn't have my tipi or ST back then.

I didn't make it that far south - Point Reyes was on my list though.
I believe we came across those elk in Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park. I am pretty sure they are Roosevelts up there.

Nice pics. The Supertarp is amazing. I have one and love it. I need a stove for it and I would be set!

Veddy nice Wanderluster. Looks like a fantastic trip.

I look forward to checking out the ST/Annex setup at the CO Rondy. Appears to be just the ticket for a solo backcountry rambler.
