  1. Re: Omni suspension pack 2 inch webbing length request

My Antero's with me, it's 10", which is WAY too long. I've got a Marauder that some genius did the same to, but, they left 5" stubs, which were plenty to put X-Ray straps on to replace them.

    Re: Hunting pack

I've not tried it, but I'd bet a nickle that a FILBE would fit it... FILBE bags are cheap, like $35 for a "hand select", and lots that are cheaper that have been loved more...

    Re: Hunting pack

I agree with that. Mel still supports those packs. (I talked to him a month or so back) But, he's a pariah. This forum's a wasted opportunity for them to listen to feedback and engage with people...

    Re: Hunting pack

The 14'r can be that bag. 2,400 ci would work well in the day hunt mode. Blowing it up to 3 day, totally possible. 60+lbs comfortably, well, I'd call that a stretch. Sure it can do it, but for...

    Re: Pack for Skinny Guys

No experience with the ultralight frame, but have owned 24" and 26" duplex. From what I've heard, the newer frames are even more comfortable, but I struggle to see how that could be possible. North...

Re: What's up with the Organizer?

The non-PALS version tends to consistently fall off unless the host pack is loaded tight. I may fiddle with MALICE clips on the other...

  8. Re: Like New Pointman (late production) and accessories

I just bought a Mountain Ridge Gear Medium Duffel for exactly that James! I also was able to see Eric's shop. (gonehuntn is his handle here on the forums) For those that don't know it, Mountain...
  9. Re: Like New Pointman (late production) and accessories

Were that the case, my response would have been "I'll take it, PM inbound..." And then I'd be passing it to a friend who needs it. Not a thing wrong with his ask price. Pack's worth every penny he...
  10. Re: Like New Pointman (late production) and accessories

I LOVE those packs. My Military Division Marauder had spray paint (greenish gray on an OD pack) and sharpie all over it, and, previous owner, brilliantly, cut the shoulder straps off and the...
  11. Re: Like New Pointman (late production) and accessories

I was slow to adopt it, haven't ever been a fan of cutting edge expensive stuff. (overly analytical penny pinching desk jockey, not military, but seem to gravitate to friends who were and who hunt,...

  13. Re: Nosler Accubonds or Partition for Up Close Bears?

I'd agree with Snakey on the 270 wsm, I'd lean towards partitions with it, but I'm way less of an expert on bullet performance than many on here, and, excuses for a new gun are hard to come by;...
  14. Re: Like New Pointman (late production) and accessories

I love the Pointman, it's a big small pack at 3,000 ci. Most don't know it, but, unzip the bottom all the way, compress the upper pack body, and the bottom can act like a cargo shelf, and the PALS...
  15. Re: WTB mini longs, L&L #2 and 8, G2 malice claymore

I've got a Rokslide post to share with you about a guy who does a fair bit of custom sewing, who has a shop east of Boulder, CO.

Edit, I'm a dumbass. This link works. ...
  16. Re: Kifaru Antero vs HPG Umlindi (for a tall guy)

I was swearing I'd seen a picture of like 3 sizes of the shoulder "yoke" laid on top of each other and telling myself that was why it folded up on me... Joe's right though, I'm not seeing sizes....
  17. Re: Kifaru Antero vs HPG Umlindi (for a tall guy)

Pardner's and Joe's explanations are spot on.

I'd elaborate on the HPG yoke that if you go that route, the yoke needs to fit you, and there are multiple sizes of them. (The one I had was too big...

    Re: Ponchos

Great for solo outings, their Poncho UL Tarp is really handy when the sky opens up, and it works like a minimalist tarp too with a few stakes and a trekking pole, I'd call it a solid improvement on a...

    Re: Chamber Slider

The chamber slider is 17.5", and the stays on the X-Ray are 17".

The Omni Frame Sheet is 16.5", it's designed to fit an Urban Zippy or Antero.

From those 2 things, the slider's ~.5" too tall...
  20. Re: Can I have some help identifying this pack

AG1/Navigator. I couldn't really see if it had the offsets for running with armor which would make it the AG (Armor Grip). In the hunting line, it was a Siwash. Like a Marauder with wrap tech...

Smoking deal for this. I have the Vector HR, love it. Having the compass, altimeter together's great, especially in canyons with not enough sky to feed a GPS. Another plus is that you can replace...
