    Re: Next generation Koala?

    Hi Rob,

I don't have any scar, just found the phrasing curious. I was around at the time but do not remember it quite like that.

    I have a Koala Lite, a couple full-sized Koalas, and a few...

Re: Brag about your rain gear, please!

Not to get too far off-topic but where are you getting cheap eVent rain gear? Even the REI stuff is priced mid-range at best. It only seems 'cheap' when compared to GTX.

    And it appears that most...

Re: Barrel stove and 12 man tipi

I use the Scout stove in my 12 man without issue... the only caveat would be to use an in-line spark arrestor.

Re: Small Fixed Blade Do-It-All Knife

That coating is a lot easier to remove than most people think... pull off the scales, coat well with some Citristrip, and let it sit for 24 hours or so--mine have all peeled right off with a UCS.

    Re: wool clothing care

Woolite's pH is 8.0 according to the MSDS. They now make a variety of products however so they may have something less alkaline than the original.

    Re: wool clothing care

I would never use Woolite to wash wool gear--its high pH causes fulling and may strip lanolin. Detergents like Ivory Snow (laundry) and Dawn (dishwashing) are gentler and more effective.

    FYI if...

I suffered from PF for years... insoles, cortisone shots, NSAIDS, et al can relieve the pain but they don't fix anything, at least not in my case. The three things that worked for me:

    Re: Tipi stove size advice

    4 Hands,

If weight/size is truly not an issue, I have been using a Scout from Cylinder Stoves in my tipi for about a dozen years now. Weight is around 25# with pipe etc, so a bit more than twice...

Re: Kifaru Tipi and NON folding stove?

I use the smallest Cylinder Stove (Scout model) in my old 12-man.

Re: House bill would sell public land at low price.

Two things, disillusioned. First, the 'deficit reduction' scheme is likely a smokescreen--a safer bet would be 'special interests'. Second, ranchettes are seldom "better protectors of habitat".

  21. Re: flogging a dead & decaying horse - wool vs. syn baselayers

Rusty, my Brynjes are a mix of white and black; I don't care much for navy blue drawers, don't know why. They also make some in green.

Regarding outdoor gear, I think it comes down to...
