    Re: box blind hunting

How far are your shots? Farthest I ever shot anything from one of those blinds was about 300 yards, back in the pre-rangefinder days. In box blinds, we always used the window opening, and padded...

    Re: Colorado Kifaru Rendezvous 2018

Darn, missed it. No rondys since 2016 now for me, that's too long. Hope you all had fun.

Re: Rim fire for small game.

I have to disagree with Huntsman22 on the 22 pistol choices. The Ruger Government Model is a little heavy, but extremely accurate.

    Re: Lost Park Parka

I have both. Having the full zip makes a lot of things easier, including venting. I wore it yesterday in 15 degree weather, and was comfortably warm. And I wore it in my home, at probably...

    Re: tikka t3x 300wsm

The 180 accubond in fed premium worked well, too, as did the TSX. Tikkas are like Savages, they pretty much just shoot anything well. I think you'll be real happy with yours.

    Re: tikka t3x 300wsm

I've been happy with the Nosler 180 gr accubond loads. And I may try the 200 gr Hornady ELDX, too.

The Noslers shoot very well out of my Savage, as they did with my prior Savage 300 WSM.

    Re: Pointman fit

Start with the waist belt. The bottom of the waist belt should be above your hip bones, tighten as far as you can. Adjust everything else to match as said above. IN practice, tighten in that...

The only question is whether you have enough room to extend them when sitting.....but the best way to know is to let you try...when in November?

    Quad sticks

This is a product from Rudolph Optics called Quad Sticks. I've been using one for a couple of years. It supports your rifle in two places, with the aid of a bungee cord. And you can hold pretty...

Sticky: Re: All-time favorite smith designs?

    In no particular order:

The gunbearer. No better way to carry a rifle long distances, even a heavy one.
The heated tipis. Optimized winter comfort.
The late season. The daypack big enough to...

    Re: Ultimate day hunting pack.

If what you mean by day/2day is you may spend an overnight, I'd vote for the DT2 or Reckoning. I can't pack my life into 3200 cu in for a night.

Re: Picture of My Son's First Buck 2016

    Great pic, Dave.

And Jon, in Texas, and I think Wyoming, there's no age minimum. I shot my first deer when I was nine, and I know of a seven year old boy who killed a pig at Shiloh Ranch.

Hit the savory spice shot in Littleton, Rob, and see about some other spices to bring. They've even got a ghost pepper salt, for which " a little goes a long way" becomes an important piece of...

    Re: Pack for Skinny Guys

    The suspension system is that...

    Re: Bargain on eBay

I suspect that's a message to someone rather than a legitimate sale. Something like "we have 180 kilos."
  19. Re: Looking for experienced backpacker/hunter in TX

Less material and lighter. The ghillie has a lot of stuff to collide with a bowstring and to me, it looks awful hot. Snipers have my respect for sitting still all day with those things on. You...
  20. Re: Looking for experienced backpacker/hunter in TX

If you're continuing to hunt at Fort Hood, you're seeing game, just not big enough to shoot. I would not be moving around, as those are stand areas that gets some pressure, and so, the animals are...

  23. Re: Looking for experienced backpacker/hunter in TX
