    testedone, put a little dab of silicone gel on the hole. We send out GE Silicone II gel as seam sealer for our tipis. Clear color. Can get it at any of the big hardware outlets. Great stuff.

    whw, you're right, the pack will perform just fine either way. But for the sake of tidiness I'd tighten the lid over the stays. That will also keep the lid upright better.
