So I am sure you and Scott had a poll going on how long it would take for me to buy a 1895 after the rondy. Well whoever guessed closest to June 24th wins. I should be picking up a basically mint 1895 with a straight grip stock and octagonal barrel. Not the cowboy though since it has the short magazine which is a plus considering I am gonna be lopping the barrel off anyways. I have one question (for now atleast). Is it worth it for me to send it to brockmans or wild west to get the barrel chopped or can a local gunsmith do it just as well? Also I know you guys usually talk about silver soldering something (magazine to barrel, sight) Is this a neccesity. Basically i guess im asking what all you have done and would suggest doing? By the way if you cant tell, I am quite excited about my first true gun "Build"

I got back home yesterday from Newport Priest area and the weather was super. Beadlake area suprising has enough snow and up in the Priest Lake area it simply rocks but your talking another hour on two lane road.

I ran into one snowmobile and one track atv playing on ice on no name lake. About an mile in on road is an surface mining operation for decorative slate. Than further up are some canyons with openings on the roads west side and some building on the east side in some timber. I had a clear day and I liked how the hillsides were both had timber and open faces while access was flat and mild on the road. Interstimg area and I it didn't seem like an popular destination.

If we happen to run into people we could simply take off into an canyon to the west side of road and do whatever we please.
