Attached is a pic using a 4-man tipi out in NM, somewhere outside of Pecos. It was actually used for a geology field camp trip thru Bucknell University! Needless to say, the other students were jealous of our cooked breakfasts and heated mornings!

That breakfast looks like she might be too close to the stove unless you like warm beer!

This was the first outing for a few days, other than hiking out and meeting old "two elk" for a cooked breakfast!

Nice pics Dan.

I noticed your stove is set up so that the pole is in front of the stove door. I have a 4 man as well and I've always set up the stove so that the pole is behind the stove ie. the stove pipe is close to the tipi pole. How does everybody else set it up. Have I been doing it wrong all this time?

dks....I know the stove jack on that rig is a custom job...That is, Two elk requested it to be placed in a location that is different than the other tipis....I had coffee in that tipi in the Adirondaks!!

Looks like the stove pipe is placed to the left rear of the stove. I suppose that the stove/pole placement works OK. I would be fearful of being burned by the pole when stoking the fire. Just my 2 cents.

I rented a 4 man and stove from Patrick a couple years ago and used it for a week with my girlfriend-now-wife. Did some brainstorming after a week of using it.

The mods were done to allow two people to sleep side by side(!) one ONE side of the tent. The stove gets shifted over to help eliminate the burned bag syndrome that can get you if you aren't careful.

Still works well for two people, one each side of the pole. Just gained 8 or so inches on one
side.

Dave, bring some sticky buns next time!
