Hello all,

I have read Patrick's essays about small game loads for the 308. What about a varmit round maybe a saboted .22 or such something that will not destroy the pelt. I was planning on buying a varmit getter this summer but after reading the post here for awhile I think I am going to pick up a rem model 7 in 308 or 7mm-08, most likely the 308. and would like too use it for varmits sometimes. boy my list of "toys" just keeps growing. It would not be a full time varmit shooter as I still plan on picking up a contender in 223 or such later.

Thanks,

Carl

hh, Don't get stuck on the .308 or 7/08 for varmints. The .260 with 95 gr. V-Maxes rocks.Way mo' betta! 'Sides that, I've never shot a sabot or accelerator that was very accurate. The .260 with 140's will do what the 7/08 with 140's does,too......Don

I'm not sure what kind of varmits you're defending against, but from what I've heard about the Alaskan Red Squirrel- you might want fully loaded 175 grain .308 for penetration, and pray you hit the kill switch. The problem is that they move so fast you could consider some .220 Swift wildcat variant to cut the lead.

Maybe a multi-barreled mini-gun with lazer sights, chain drive and in .223 or perhaps .220 Wilson Arrow?????
