Having no experience yet (currently have 16-man & ex-large stove on order) with a tipi and stove, can one use the stove top to boil water/perk coffee/heat a pot or pan? Or is it simpler to use a mountaineering stove for the cooking and simply rely on the tipi stove system for heat? Not at all interested in debating the pros and cons of cooking inside vs outside - just want to understand the usefulness of the stove top for cooking. John

Yes that stove will make some great meals for you. I haven't cooked on mine yet but did try boil time..takes 20 minutes for a pan of water to boil...from there the skys the limit.

If you're in a hurry a small burner will be handy to get water up to a boil right now. If you're going to be there a while anyhow, you'll have NO problem making anything on the stove you'd make on your stove at home and in similar time.

The limitations are what you brought along and your time constraints. If you weren't using the stove for heat, getting it up to cook a meal would be time consuming compared to a gas stove. But if you are going to be heating anyhow, you'll not be burdened imo to lose a couple minutes in boil time.
