What mapping system do you use?
Not sure what you mean by "mapping system".

UTM is my preferred coordinate system.

I use a military camenga compass.

Other than that I have a UTM protractor.

Maps vary.

Hi Dick
It seems Terrian Navigator doesn't offer their mapping system anymore I was wondering if you could recommend a mapping system. I want to print out the 7.5 topos with utm grids.. Still old school here.............map,compass,simple gps

Well, Ed, there's good news and bad news. Terrain Navigator is still available, but the "standard" version, which ran about $100 per state, is long gone. Terrain Navigator Pro is available (see the link below), and it's incredible, but it runs $400 per state.

Check out DeLorme and National Geographic; both make topo map software that provides UTM grids at a sharply reduced price. They're good programs, and will do what you need them to do; I, too, prefer the "old school" approach with paper, gridded maps.

Hope this helps,
Dick
