Okay, I have given this thought and I give up.

On the Express pack and the Spike Camp, there are two plastic triangle devices about an inch to the side. These are located on both sides under the shoulder straps on a sewn strap to the back of the pack.

I give up, what are these for? Must be to connect something but I cannot figure out what.

Those triangles are where I connect my grab-it and cargo chair on my MOLLEX.

I hang a small axe or big knife from there :)

In addition to the triangles being used for the cargo chair and grab-it as mentioned previously, it's also a mounting point for the cargo panel.

They are also used for piggybacking smaller packs.

Once you get familiar with Patrick's designs you will realize that every detail has a purpose and often more than one.
