It was another great get together! We had a big crowd. I won't steal Patrick's thunder because I'm sure he'll make some comments but the tribute to Timberline on Saturday was very touching and the highlight for me. We gave him a fitting send off.

Here is some video of my son having a good time. The 50 cal was a hoot! Thanks Josh!

Ruger wants to be a sniper for the military when he grows up. So this picture is fitting! For those who dont know. Ruger's dad was a navy seal. Rugers dad was taken away from him and his sister by a careless driver on 285 a few months ago.
Thanks to everyone who helped and played with Ruger. He had a heck of a time, and asked me if he could go back next year!

Ermine, also glad to meet you (didn't recognize you without dead animals in the frame), and good on ya for bringing Ruger up, hopefully he can make it up next year too.

Special thanks go to Steve and Diane Lair, particularly Diane, for that magnificent quilt. What a fantastic job she did.

Thanks to Sherry and her family for coming out. A lot of people loved Bill, and we're glad you got to meet a few more.

Thanks to all of you from Tristan, my grandson, who "had a blast". I don't think he'll ever forget that weekend, from stoking the stove for Patrick, to telling stories, and hearing a few, and shooting the gong at 365 yds with Josh. Very few 8 year old boys have weekends like that one. (Of course, I had to top it off by buying him a milkshake at Coney Island...the kid has to be spoiled a bit after a good camping event.)

Thanks to Patrick for hosting, and to the Kifaru folks as well for all of their hard work.

Thanks to Josh for taking time with Tristan and the AR-15.

And thanks to those who attended. Think about it. How often could you put 50 people together on a camping trip, and not have one horse's patoot in the bunch?

Man I wish Ethan and I could have been there!

Ethan payed tribute to Bill by hitting two RBI's in his first ball game of the year and dear old Mom & Dad sat watching for 2 hours in a 40mph wind with 40 degree air temp (having the time of their lives).

I picked up a few archery pointers from Bill, but the most valuable thing he may have taught me was after his passing. Enjoy the time with your wife and kids! Cause you never know when it will end. Thank you Krenz Family.

Till next year folks. I'm lovin the pictures!

What a great time. Thank you to everyone for the generosity and friendship. It was fantastic to meet just about everyone although I don't know how I missed CCH. We'll make it happen buddy. Thanks to Patrick, the Kifaru crew, and all the rondevous-ers. The experiences I shared with my son that weekend are life changing - including the record amount of game meat I consumed on Saturday.

My pics are similar to Ermine's as we spent the morning together following the boys and girls flinging arrows - but here you go.

Hello fellow Rendezvouers, I'm just now able to contribute here as I was afield a bit following the Rendezvous. For starters, I'll agree we had a superb time this year. And I have some random recollections I can toss out...

---KIDS! We sure had a bunch. And Huntsman and Big Jon are world-class kid magnets. Oh my.
---I'll echo Kevin Massaro and salute the classiness exhibited by everybody. It's an honor to know you folks.
---Col. Brown was a treat, bestowing stories, good cheer and competence.
---The weaponry was superlative. Thanks to Col. Brown (rifle scope), Bob Grimmer, Hunter Hamilton, Josh Paquette, Gary-of-470 Nitro fame, et al for bringing the goods.
---Of special note: Sherry Krenz and daughter (and her friends) and Sherry's brother Tim Murphy...you guys are welcome in our tipis anytime, anywhere.
---The Timberline Salute, which we will remember always. Thank you dear friends for participating nobly.
---Mark Perrins for travelling all the way from Cleveland (and he's still out here somewhere, folks).
---The Hill People...Scot and Evan and Cameron and kids...all the way from Oregon. Bushcraft and Randy, we'll look for you next year.
---The Spirit exhibited by all despite many days of snow and wind.
---My colleagues at Kifaru, God bless you all.
---Laura's Famous popcorn.
---Lori Heraty for contributing the Flamingo 7 mascot.
---Steve Lair for coming early and helping pitch camp.
---Gregdoo for sticking around and helping thru the bitter(sweet) end.

Etc. Too many vignettes for the space here. I'll just stop and say SEE YOU ALL NEXT YEAR!

Well, I made quite a haul this year in the LOST AND FOUND category. Here is the List of what I brought back alive:

---Brown hair thingamajig.

---Blue Melanzana hat.

---Brown Levi coat XL.

---Red and black Faded Glory coat 10-12 (kids size?).

---One black Manzella glove.

---Pair of Outback gloves.

---2006 Rendezvous hat.

---2008 Rendezvous hat.

---Black flashight.

---LED tent lantern.

---.22 rifle tube spring (claimed by Big Jon).

---Chairs: 2 green, 2 blue, 2 Mossy Oak.

All this stuff is in my office, and Janice knows where the pile is if I'm afield when you show up to fetch your stuff.

Being my first Rendezvous, I'd like to thank Patrick and all at Kifaru for hosting such a spectacular event. It was a great opportunity to be introduced to some like minded people, enjoy fine food & drink, and put some rounds downrange. Looking forward to keeping in touch and bringing my son next year (along with more interesting firepower!).

It was great meeting everyone; thanks to all for the friendship and hospitality.

Cheers,

I'd be willing to bet the kid's jacket is Tristan's. The black flashlight, if it is very tiny and fits a 123 battery, is likely mine. I can't remember the brand, but I think it's O something.

Smoke, we are making some more hats for those who didn't receive theirs, and just added you to the list.

I am remiss in not recalling that Member Super Badger (Patrick LaValley) travelled from the Northwest with the Hill family to join us this year. Good to have you with us, Badger!

I am also remiss in not mentioning Diane Lair's magnificent Timberline Quilt, of which there are numerous images on this thread.

What an outstanding time.

I wish I could remember the names of everyone I met.

A few more pictures and comments from the 2011 Rendezvous. Thanks so much for all who attended. It was truly a splendid crowd of folks and it is a privilege to know and spend time with you all. There were lots of events and side shows with sub plots galore. There is always something going on, and the energy gained takes several days after returning home to burn off.
6068
Patrick attempts to claim “Geezer status”, but a geezer hardly describes one who repeatedly stays up till the wee hours inciting and adjudicating complex philosophical arguments (i.e. caliber selection vs. shot placement) and does it again the next day (actually next several days).
6069
Huntsman 22 making a lifelong friend. Earlier she was looking for someone to play Rapunzel with, who’d of thought…
There were several interesting events this year. One of the most enduring was Mark S’s introduction to the group of that marvelous Chinese drink Maotai. From Wikipedia (so it must be true). “ Moutai is a Chinese liquor. It is produced in the town of Moutai. It is believed that the town of Maotai possesses a unique climate and vegetation that contributes to the taste of the drink. Maotai, which is classified as "sauce-fragranced" because it offers an exceptionally pure, mild, and mellow soy sauce-like fragrance that lingers after it is consumed, is distilled from fermented sorghum and ranges in alcohol content from the standard 53% by volume down to 35%.
6070
It is one of China's official state banquet wines and claims to be one of the world's three best known liquors (together with whisky and cognac) and is therefore presented to all official guests of state.” It does have a lingering taste…
6071
Not exactly a head of state, but Col Brown savors a taste of China.
6072
Note the clever nostril engaging shot glass… Identity obscured to protect the innocent.
6073
Two of the three wise men; some showed more discretion than others.
The week was rather stormy and it looked like there would be more time in the tipi than on the range. We started with a good deal of graupel that later turned to a light covering of snow. However the skies cleared and the snow melted presenting us with a couple of fine range days with only a gentle breeze to sooth the ragged mind and challenge those long shots.
6074
The new range sans snow. Ranges out to 830 yards…or meters…or is it 813? In any event the 400 meter ram is 460 yards away …or so.
6075
The new range with the additional snow option which we got at no additional charge.

The final night saw an incomparable wild game feast. The menu was widely varied, seemingly never ending and a glorious debauchery. Bacchus would have been proud. Pasta with chicken and pesto, grilled duck and goose breast, the best Whitetail tenderloins I’ve ever eaten, Axis deer venison, elk stakes, incredible elk cheddar brats, spiced beans, and the best chili I’ve ever had, made with wild boar. Just as I was slipping into a food coma and reaching for another cheddar brat, the brownies came out along with a host of after dinner libations; what bounty.
