View Full Version : 2011 Rondy...Timberline tribute

There was a previous post about perhaps having a 50 gun salute to our departed friend, Bill Krenz.

Sherry asked me if there was anything she could provide. I can't think of a thing, but it says a lot about her that she'd ask that question. Any ideas?

At the 2011 ECR Patrick led a Bill Krenz toast. A kind of different "shot" but a salute no less.

Bill was a writer and editor (as well as so much else). Perhaps a book by a favorite author signed by the collected group. Perhaps one from his library or I'm sure I could find something from my own library that would suit.

Perhaps we could invite Sherry to visit at least for that portion of the day when we do the salute and maybe we could all gather afterwards and share a story about Bill. We would need to discuss it with her to see if it's something she would be OK with doing. I would be more than happy to go meet her in Florissant or Lake George and guide her to the rondy site. Just an idea...

I like the idea of inviting Sherry to the Rondy, even if she joins us for just an hour. She might enjoy a glimpse of where Bill went and what he did at this "Kifaru Rondy".

Strictly thinking out loud here;
I looked at Sawtooth's picture on his signature line and thought what if,,, have Patrick sew a Kifaru patch on a piece of tipi material or pack cloth, we put it in a frame and we have everyone at the Rondy sign it. Then we can present that to Sherry as a token of appreciation from the Kifaru crowd for Bill and all he has shared with us here.

I like both of those ideas. A lot.

I like both ideas as well, I would also suggest a release of arrows toward a distant target either before or after the rifle salute. He has taught us all a significant amount about firearms and archery as well.
I know he will guide all the arrows in an accurate line toward the target.
We raised a glass to him at the Winter Rondy here in CO, the moment of silence and respect was touching.

It showed up later....like 2 hours later. Who knows where in cyberspace it was....and the email notification was in junk mail. Oh, well.

Have we decided on anything? I would be more than happy to help get something together. Let me know what i need to do to make this happen!
