View Full Version : Best way to haul meat in an UL 5200

What is the best way to haul meat in a 5200?

Scenario...packed in with full load, shoot my game, and need to haul out what I've shot. What's the best way to load up the pack and what do people do with the gear they had in the pack on the way in.

Perhaps a rookie question, I've always had a frame pack (before I owned my long hunter), or my long hunter and cargo chair to haul meat..to be real honest I often use horses on the extract of my meat unless I've been flown in, then again I (my wife) own horses and after the vet and hay bills I need to get my monies worth....really, serious question thinking of saving the weight over my G2 LH.

Thanks for your ideas and comments.

Extra gear goes in a POD or use lash straps. Meat goes in the main pack, in a good game bag. (i now use sea-to-summit event dry bags).

What I used with my KU 5200 was Kifaru Meat Baggies dropped into a Sea to Summit eVent pack liner. The pack liner is 70 liters if I remember correctly. That all was inside the KU 5200 and gear was packed on top of and around the meat.
