Does anyone have any ideas or loads for the .358 Winchester? I'm looking for something that is satisfactory for a good 200 yd. moose load, and also as a close range bear medicine, night time achy-head, in my tent, stealing my underwear, keeping-me-up, so I can rest medicine. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks Tim.

Tim--

Start with 39gr. IMR-4198, Fed. 210 primer and 250Gr. Nosler Partition and work up if needed. Then rest easy.

You gonna head over to Reno for FNAWS?

Thanks Patrick. Once I decide for sure on the Alaska trip, I'll be ordering the .358 Winchester microlite barrel for the Kifaru. Jamie and I will definately be at FNAWS. Probably at RMEF and SCI also. Maybe being this close to all of the national conventions (Mule Deer Foundation) also, makes up for not being able to draw a tag ANYWHERE this past year. Will you have some of the military day packs at the shows? I want to try them on to see if I am going to get the Spikecamp or one of the military ones (sorry, but I'm not familiar enough with them to know which ones are in the same catagory. Thanks Tim.

Tim--

It'll be good to visit with you and Jamie. Yep, we're bringing the Military Packs too. Turns out a lot of soldiers are hunters (I guess there's really no surprise there).

Tim,

I have not found a suitable recipe for my .358 W yet but if I do I'll let you know. I'll be at FNAWS Fri and Sat. Part of the time I will be at the Montana FWP booth helping out. Stop by if you get a chance.

Paul, I'm not sure which day(s) I'll be there, but I'll definately stop by the booth. Did you get the Kifaru rifle? If so, what barrel(s)? Tim.

Tim,

I have a 7-08 and .358 barrel. I have my 7-08 dialed in but have not spent enough time with the .358. Hope to visit with you in Reno.

I have a BLR 81 in 358 Win. The load Patrick lists (250 Nos Part over 39/4198) shows up as the top load, not as a beginging load, in the Speer #5 and Barnes #3 manuals.

Has anyone with a BLR 81 tried the load? What kind of results are you getting?

I am a little leary of going with heavier load than 39 grs.and would like to hear of some experience in the BLR before I go ahead.

Anyone out there have a good load for the 358 Winchester in a BLR?

I am hunting elk in Utah this fall and considering the 225 Barnes or Nosler Partion.

Let me know, cause it's time to get loading and sight in.

Well, I bought the 250 Nosler Partitions and some 4198 to try Patrick's load for my 358 Win.

Doesn't anyone out there shoot a BLR-81? Am I the only guy out there with a lever gun for hunting elk?

I'd love to hear some stories of successful elk hunts with a lever action rifle.
