Just wondering what the new tan millitary tipis are going to look like and if the specs are anything different than the standard.

TJW--
Glad you asked this one. We have decided to make the color Coyote Brown, which is THE desert color with our military guys. It's a medium-to-light brown. The fabric is being produced in North Carolina as we speak (I hope). The specs as to weight, strength and such will be the same as our white or yellow. The cost should be the same too (at least that's what the supplier tells me). The fabric should be here in a couple of weeks I'm thinking. Feel free to order now; that'll give us reason to start building your tipi as soon as the fabric arrives. Otherwise we may find ourselves just continuing to build white and yellow ones because we're always playing catch-up.
If you're familiar with the hot new Coyote you'll know that it's THE desert ticket for the troops and they're clamoring for it. It will also be quite "stealthy" in forest/tundra/grassland environments as well, I should think. Pretty neat color, really. I'd say it's about the color of deerhide. "Better" than tan.

Any chance the new tipi color will be at the Bozeman show?

Ah, Tom--
If you'll look at my post back to you below you'll note that, sadly, I can't make it to Bozeman. Too dang close to the RMEF Convention out in Reno. I just can't move that fast. Unless, of course, I'm chasing elk. Or sheep/goat/caribou...you get the idea.
Maybe we can get a digital photo of a hunk of the fabric when it arrives and get it up somewhere on the site here. Would that help?

To all--

In reviewing this "topic" in the new Board format, I have a couple of comments. First, my response to Tom, to the effect that I had answered him once before in the "old", linear Board format, is going to look real odd to new readers of this board. That's because, in fact, I doubt Maggie will even put that response back on here. The old board ran top-to-bottom chronologically. This one runs just the opposite! So, readers, there won't be a "down below" posting to Tom from me. It has disappeared into cyberspace. Got it?

The other thing I'll touch on is the post from Dennis re the new Coyote Brown tipi color. (That one is "up above", OK?) Funny stuff, Dennis. And since I've said it's color is akin to deer hide we better beware some fool shooting the dang thing as a very big deer!! Like Dennis, just kidding here guys.

In a more serious vein, it looks like the new fabric won't be in the Shop for another five weeks, not the two weeks I mentioned above. I spoke with the mill recently and got the news that everybody in the fabric biz shuts down over Christmas/New Year, which projects the arrival of that fabric forward.
