I've been selling spare Kifaru gear to finance my new rifle. I've decided to build a kit from Track of the Wolf. I've chose to build an Iassac Haines with the following particulars

54 caliber swamped Cellerian barrel profile c
Bivens trigger
Large siler deluxe lock
grade 5 curley maple

I am going to join a group of men that meet once a week at our local high school to build period style guns, knives, clothing, bows, accoutriments of the 1700's -1800's , I've gone to a couple of meetings but space is limited due to fire codes in the metal shop. Here is what I hope to create2423 I'm joining the club when space becomes available to have a coach or coaches. What kind of Bp guns do you guys have, like, or want. I'll go first

My first bp gun is a T/c renegade 50 cal flint have had it 30 yrs still fun to shhot though not very period accurate,

guns sold: t/c encore &t/c omega

guns traded knight 50 cal disc traded for poness warren shotgun shell reloader
remmington percussion 50 cal traded taxidermist to pay for elk moount

gun given: lyman gpr hawkin flinter to friend who shot his first deer

Now you now my real true love, Bp had been near and dear to my heart for 30 years. At one time I had 6 Bp rifles, I've given all but my very first one away to pay for a debt or give as a gift to someone special. My dad has supplied me with the hand tools he used along time ago. Suprisingly only common hand tools are all one needs for the most part. I was just curious what others like , have or want?

That's pretty cool, how long will the barrel be?

Very cool. I've got a 54 roundball shooter and would kind of like to get a 58 or 62 someday. I started a Hawken project once and after a lot of hours, pulled the checkbook and shipped it off for completion. Will love to see pics when yours is done.

If this is your first build then best advice I could give you is that you'll make some mistakes, but that's ok, because everybody does, even the best builders. The difference between a good gun and a really nice one is how well you fix/hide your mistakes. Hope you have fun with it.

Just a feed boy,

Beautiful rifle you have built with the hand tools your dad supplied you with! Outstanding!!!

Hope you get some more kifaru gear to take it on a ramble with!

Best of luck with your club!!!

That is a beauty. Love that full-of-character wood. Looks like you've done a wonderful job. Let us know if you shoot something with it.

I would say track of the wolf is the best kit build avaiable from what I know. I have many years experience with black powder and want to get into the building of backpowder rifles and hunting with them. I plan to start with the Lyman Plains Rifle in .54.

The type of rifle you are building most traditionally seem to have been in .40 to .45 cal. Haven't seen many of them in .54 cal. Very nice I love the grain in the wood. I know the better stock wood comes with a premium. Most traditional extant rifles seems to be basic in their construction and have iron furnature rather than brass. Anyway I do not think you could go wrong with Track of the Wolf.

I have mostly had Civil War related weapons. Being in the hobby for well over 15 years I had accumulated a lot. I sold most of them off as I got out of the hobby as most of my free time goes to spending time with my kids and their activites.

I have had the following:
M1816 Smoothbore Musket Percission Conversion Musket .69
M1842 Smoothbore Musket .69
P53 Enfield Rifled-Musket .577
M1855 working Maynard Tape system Rifled-Musket .58
Percussion 12 guage shotgun
1860 Army Colt Revovler .44
1851 Colt Navy Revolver .36
1849 Colt Pocket Revolver .31 (only one I still have)
