View Full Version : PNW Winter Rondy Dates

Yep, it's time. The last three years, we've chosen the last weekend in January or thereabouts. It's a Friday through Sunday kind of deal. I know of one person who would like to see it happen later than January. The weekend of Feb 14th is out. We should also avoid SHOT show dates, as Patrick has expressed an interest in coming. So, for those of you who'd like to attend, which weekend would you prefer?

Jan 16
Jan 30
Feb 6
Feb 20
Feb 27
Mar 6

Assume the location is central Oregon.

30 January sounds good.

I hope to make the drive down, but my life is still in chaos and I don't know what weekends I'd be free or not. Even when/if we get settled into the new place, the GF is traveling a lot for work now and I gotta run the geriatric dog hospital while she's away... Anyway, I hope to make it, whenever it is.

Chalk up another person who can't make it in January.

Clearly, blacking out the 12-14 weekend of February is a good call for all concerned.

My situation is "fluid" so I have no preference. I hope I can attend on whatever the chosen weekend is.

Allen, you *are* the person who can't make it in January. ;)

You guys should come here and make our CO rondy rival yours from last year, we would love to have you, the 24 man should be big enough for the 5-8 folks from here and the >10 from the NW.
Enjoy your trip, we will as well.

What?!?!?!? Really?!?!?

Darn, and here I thought I was just adding another poor soul to the January No-Go list in an effort to help push it out into February or March.

( ;) )

Jon, thanks for the invite! If I took my skis to CO, I'd be hard pressed not to jump ship in favor of the 10th mountain system. That's one of those trips thats on "the list". Attendance isn't super high here either. I think we've had 8 each year. It does make for a nice group.

With your invitation to stay in the 24 man, I think perhaps you guys from Colorado are bolder than we are, or maybe just better about packing your ear plugs. One individual, who shall go unnamed, suffered a grievous injury one year because he had lost one of his earplugs and so was forced to sleep on one side all night in the midst of a great and terrible noise.

I pity that poor bastard.

12-08-2009, 09:58 PM
I can't make 2/6, other dates possible... so far anyway:rolleyes:.

I was just given the office vacation schedule this afternoon, so it'd be great if we can get the dates hammered out pretty soon. Anywhere in January, up to and including the weekend of Jan 22-24 works for me. Then from Jan 25 to Feb 14 I'm house sitting a place out of town, and there's no way my wife will stay there solo. That's also the last weekend I have off, so if it's after that, then I'll need to burn vacation time. I'm OK with that as long as I know the dates before I hand off the schedule to the next guy.

around the weekend of the 6th would be great for me. I am really flexible these days though, so whatever works for everyone else, unless I get a call for a job last minute...

I am new to this forum. I am planning on buying a SuperTarp with annex asap.

I love to hike, hunt and camp. I am new to winter camping.

I live in the Willamette Valley(Lebanon).

Do you allow new folks to the rondy, or is this invitation only?

Quite the austere wilderness backdrop you've got there.

All are welcome to these get togethers.

I would like to attend the winter rondy this year. I am good for all weekends except for January 30. Although, I may be able to reschedule the class I have planned for that date.

We were getting ready to leave and realized that we had not taken any photos yet. The green mattress was not ours!

I am free the weekends of January 9th and March 6th.

The Jan 16 one is doable for me. The ones in Feb. might also be. Otherwise I won't know what is available because I have a big installation which will go on for months starting in January with the equipment trickling in in fits and starts. This stuff is coming from Italy and they don't give firm dates other than to say it will all come sometime over those 3 months. Pick a date and if I can make it I will.

'Nuther update. I'm going to Salem Jan 7-11 for training.

Right on Allen...the Feb 12-14 weekend is the Inland Empire Chapter SCI annual fundraiser. Y'all get it on your calendars and I'll see you in Spokane:)

I'm out the weekends of Jan 23 and 30...I'll be in beautiful Dallas, TX all week. All other time is spoken for as we pack, paint, sort, throw out and downsize for the upcoming move.

Looks like there are minimums on 16-Jan and 6-Feb.

This is going to be near Bend, OR, correct?
My prerequisite is to carpool with someone, don't want a long boring drive by myself. Don't have my 1st quarter work schedule yet.

12-10-2009, 04:30 PM
Minor correction...It looks like the minimums occur during the later part of February and early March.

Chalk this observation up as another wholly transparent and entirely selfish attempt to push the date out into February. :D

12-10-2009, 04:57 PM
Well yeah, due to shortage of clear info.

12-10-2009, 05:02 PM
How about Jan 23rd AND Mar 6th? Make whichever one or both that you can...

12-10-2009, 10:51 PM
I like that idea Evan!

12-10-2009, 11:28 PM
Thanks for the offer Evan. I hope that doesn't put you out too much.

12-11-2009, 12:16 AM
Yes Evan, that's very gracious of you. Thank you.

(Scot too) ;)

12-11-2009, 07:22 AM
Heck at this point it is all Evan. I have been absolutely slammed at work lately, and have some other stuff going on that is keeping me busy elsewise.

I guess I should way in. At this point I am open whenever. I will say that a later date usually means more snow, which might mean the Ochocos.

Just to clariify. I do not know whether I'll be available on any of the dates. It is more likely that I will not be available on any of them. Besides there is no elk in the freezer this year for elk chili :( On the other hand this may be bring joy to some of the past victims :) I guess in an emergency slow elk or buffalo could be substituted.

12-11-2009, 10:24 AM
I could make any weekend except the weekend of 6 Feb. I have drill during that time.
