View Full Version : 32 oz Nalgene in pullouts?

Would anybody who has small or medium pullouts be able to comment on whether or not a 32 oz Nalgene will be able to fit in them? The website shows a 32 oz-ish water bottle which looks like it just might, barely, squeeze into a small pullout, but some empirical evidence would be nice.

Ah.. would a can of coke fit then?

Just checked, as I happen to have a small and a medium pullout sitting here:

A 12 oz. can of (insert favorite soda) will fit in a small. Agree with duckear, no on the 1L/32 oz. Nalgene in a small pullout.

With a medium pullout you still cannot fit a 1L/32 oz. Nalgene inside.

Hope this helps...

Thanks! Very helpful! Seems like the pullouts are a tad smaller than I thought. One last question: For the Nalgene, is the problem one of girth or length?

Problem would be both. The Nalgene almost fits lengthwise, but then there still wouldn't be enough material to zip the pullout closed.

Wonderful. I have a pretty good idea then. Thanks a lot!

Here's a couple of pictures, since a picture is worth a thousand words...

The pullouts are essentially flat envelopes designed to corral and organize those all-important small things and this they do very well. Fill a pullout with lots of small, slippery things, leave the zipper open and pick it up by the end and nothing falls out, yet the opening gapes wide for retrieval. Big lumps, like Nalgene bottles, are better carried in specially made pockets, like the Liter Plus.

I asked for Nalgenes and coke cans because most people have a fairly good idea of how large they are. I actually plan to use padded pullouts for some camera lens which tend to fall around the size of coke cans or Nalgene bottles. Liter plus pouches won't work because I plan stuff them into waterproof stuff sacks and tether them inside my pack.
