My son just left for Iraq again. He's with the 1st CAV and headed north of Bagdad to a much "cooler" zone this time, with an excellent group of soldiers in his unit. I met them last week and feel much better about this deployment. I hope they can finish the fine job they started and get back here as soon as it's done.

If you are the praying type, please fit him in somewhere. He and his crew, and all of those in harm's way could use our support in prayer. As a father and a Christian, I have no problem praying for his aim to be true. The Islamic extremists that wish to kill another just because they are Christians or Americans deserve nothing more than a well-aimed round.

I will join in your prayers. In addition, we must pray for our country now that the libs are in power.

oeb,
You got that right. I can't imagine being in the military with a Clinton or Obama commander-in-chief. Lord help us all. Thank you for your prayers, and for all you do.

Thanks to you Smoke,
And thanks to all the other well wishers and those that have also offered their services, and in some cases their lives, to this country.

Best of luck to him, if I was passing through Kuwait instead of Manas on my way home, I might have run into him.

Thanks again fellas. I sure do love this country, even with its misgivings. God Bless America, and the Americans like yourselves that make this place great.

We just spoke to a few guys at Walmart here in Columbus. Apparently everyone ships out from Camp Atturberry here if they are correct. We thanked them and wished them well. I hope one of them was yours. Great kids.

Thanks Bob,
My son has been over there for a few days now. I think he went from TX to NY, then over? Loose lips sink ships, so I don't think they have a set pattern of travel. Thanks for your kind thoughts.

Not necessarily even remotely correct, but OPSEC certainly applies.

Its funny (strange, not haha) some of the things I have heard servicemen say over unsecure phones or in public places about things they really shouldn't be discussing; William has it exactly right.

Not surprising. During WWII every one was involved in one way or another and there were posters, news reels and radio mention of operational security constantly. Since then we have been in wars while pretending at home we weren't.

It is this eccentricity that I believe accounts for the fact that the wars we have been involved in have grown longer and longer and frequently have unsatisfactory results.

William,

Don’t know where I’ve been, but just saw this. My everlasting thanks to you and yours. 1st CAV is a first rate outfit with good leaders all the way down to the fire team. There’s a lot of good work to do up there yet and some of it will call on his courage and leadership. I’ll keep him and his in my prayers. Stout heart and good hunting.

Thank you flamingo 7. I'm sure you've done your time, too.
