This to be a good overview of all the current and future blood clotting technologies. I found the bottom part of the article particularly interesting.

Ben - I've been packing QuickClot in remote areas where we are using aircraft and a variety of dangerous machinery, but fortunately haven't had to use it. While pressure is better if it works, I have used Urgent QR, which is a hydrophylic polymer, not a zeolite like QC. It's not supposed to fill the same niche as QC but it has simplified dealing with some medium cuts and I suspect could do more if it had to. It also doesn't require removal in a hospital or pose a burn risk. Some of the professional testimonials are interesting.

Also heard a good report in a veterinary context on Bleed X, which is starch based.

I too would be interested to hear what medics on the board think of these things. Particularly if they've used them.
