View Full Version : Kifaru Beaver Tail

Hey guys, I was working around snow (ahem hear in Ak) since I'm back from Iraq, and was having a bit of trouble with putting a Black Diamond D9 Shovel on my Zulu. It got me to thinking that maybe a MOLLE compatible attachment for some sort of Beaver Tail would be very marketable. Especially to us Arctic troops who need to carry tent poles, shovels, and wet gear regularly. Can you make one please? I'll buy it I really will.

Thanks Patrick and Mel.

Guys, I decided that using the search function would be a good idea, and saw some other posts about this. Delete if you want, but I still wish you would make one.

Check out eggroll\'s beavertail (http://forums.kifaru.net/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=000889) in this tread.

Yeah I checked that out man, definately not what I had in mind. I want something with a foam inner, that has its own stability. Similar to what Dana Designs and Osprey were doing a few years back. It should definately be more substantial than Cordura. Thanks guys.

cut your own out of hypalon. no sewing required. Two vertical lash straps and a few slots to run the straps through.

any more stability than that and you should have a cargo chair.

Alright guys, I'm gonna go for the moron look here and ask: What is a beaver tail? I mean I can see the pictures, but what's the purpose? Go ahead, let me have it...might as well have some fun with me.

What about using the dock n lock system to attach an XTL like a beavertail?

Hmmmm not a bad idea, I might have to try that. More importantly, I might be able to use my standard Zulu top lid in this manner. Thanks.

I have a High Speed Gear Hydration carrier, it will fit 2 - 3ltr bladders (for size refersence) it has a nice large zip open mouth, add some padding to it and your set. It works great as a beaver-tail to my Marauder, a little big for the E&E bit ok. Might be one anwser...

Bigger then the Kifaru side pockets and it has PALs webbing. I set mine up with QD buckles, ala-dock-n-lock style.

Eggroll's beavertail has a zipper pocket. Cut a piece of foam pad to fit, insert, and you have a classic, self-supporting beavertail.
