In case anyone was wondering where the oft used literary device of equating the prairie with the ocean comes from:

It surprises me to find yucca that far north (north of I-80), but there it is.

evan, nebraska looks just like my home grounds in Elizabeth/Kiowa. Without the snow, one of my coyote spots looks most sim-u-lar........If this pic was looking west instead of north, you'd swear it was the same pasture. The only thing to break the wind, between Nebraska and here, is a couple of bob-wire fences......... Tell me more about them amenonie thingies.

Here's a sea yucca for you:

I've always enjoyed being out on the plains, particularly on a horse -- which in my case means an iron horse. A motorcycle trip that I've had in the back of my head for a long time starts in Mexico at the southern end of the Comanche trail (wherever it is that the Comanches got parrot feathers from) and runs all the way up the great plains within a hundred miles of the front range all the way up into Canada. It ends wherever the prairie turns into tundra. I figured I'd know it when I got there.

Evanhill,

That's a great picture. Some say there's nothing to be seen in Nebraska, but i beg to differ.

It's that horizon you get just before you hit the Eastern Slope. Gotta love them both...
