EVANSVILLE, IN — The third annual Fred Bear Sportsman's Club "Shoot for the Hungry" has raised $10,216, or enough to process some 40,864 venison meals to feed local individuals and families in need. The event included archery fun-shoots at Bass Pro Shops® locations in Harrisburg, Nashville, Clarksville and Charlotte over four weekends this summer.

Over the course of three years, the event has raised $48,016 for 192,064 meals.

"Being able to use our resources wisely was one of the main goals of the original Fred Bear Sportsman's Club," said Ross Rinehart, Marketing Manager for Bear® Archery. "Being associated with these events is another way we can give back to our communities through the sport we care so much about. We're proud to be partnering with Bass Pro Shops as they do a great job in promoting and making these events successful."

In addition to raising money to process the venison that local hunters will donate to feed the hungry, the fun-shoots featured dozens of prize giveaways at each location.

Donated venison provides families a high-protein, low-fat supplement vital to a healthy diet. Also, venison donated to soup kitchens lowers food costs and puts more meat on the table at a critical time of the year.

"We are really happy to be a part of these great events," stated Bass Pro Shops Corporate Public Relations Manager Larry Whiteley. "The money raised goes a long way in helping to provide venison to those less fortunate and brings awareness to all the good things hunters do."
