View Full Version : Fall away rests
I'm getting accessories for a new bow. I've been researching fall away arrow rests for hunting and I like a bit of the more full capture type, but don't want a Whisker Bisquit. I'm looking at three fall aways in particular and curious of anyone's thoughts/experience with these or others you've liked.
1. QAD Ultra HD Pro
2. Vapor Limbdriver
3. Rip cord

JBR, I am in the same boat you are in that I am setting up a new bow. I bought a Bowtech and thought I would be "safe" and put the Bowtech "Hostage" rest on it. I do not have to worry about an arrow falling out or off of the rest. Unlike the Whisker Biscut this rest does NOT tear up the fletching after several shots. I am interested to see what others have to say about the rests you mentioned. This is my first hunting compound bow to rig up so I am open for suggestions too!

I have had a couple of different fall aways (not really an expert of what's the latest & greatest). I found the Muzzy Zero Effect and quit looking for something better... it is what I have on my Mathews. Very secure and quiet... oh yeah ....and consistant.

I like ripcord rest, I've shot one 4 yrs. Had one problem with it dropping away, sent it back they fixed it and no problems since. I'm getting a new bow tomorrow and putting a ripcord on it. One of my buddys uses the Qad ultra and really likes it.
Don't think you'll go wrong with either one.

I like my trophy taker shaky hunter. It is not a full capture, but they have expanded their line up to include a full capture version.
Have fun with the new bow.

I use a rip-cord on my Mathews. Last summer, after 4 years, the cord started to fray where it exits the rest. No big deal, the local pro shop replaced for nothing. I have no complaints.
I'd take a look at the Trophy Takers's too. I have a few friends that love em'.

My favorite two drop aways are the the Trophy Taker Shaky Hunter and the Vapor Trail Limb driver. I'm currently shooting the Limb Driver and am happy with it. I don't think you can go wrong with either rest.
Thanks for the input guys. I went with the QAD Ultra rest for now and like it so far. I'll see how I like it while trying out the new bow on some 3D courses over the next few months.
I put it on a 2008 Martin FireCat Pro-X, with a Cobra Sidewinder 5-pin sight. I've got it dialed in at 20 yrds, but just haven't had the opportunity to shoot any further than that yet. Only had it 2 days, but I'm already hooked. We're getting a new camera after the other one got run through the washing machine after a duck hunt (oops), but I'll post some pics of my new bow setup in the near future.

I think you're on the right track with the Ripcord and the QAD. They are "the" rests if you're interested in full capture and fall away. I'm not saying any of the others out there are bad rests. I like the trophy takers and several others; but, for what you're seeking, you're definitely on the right track. I have Ripcords or QAD ultras on all of my family's bows now.
Got the QAD and loving it - thanks everyone.
