Looking to get into backpacking, something I've always wanted to do but never done.

I'd like to find backpackers in the area and I'm having trouble finding info or a club. I thought this might be a good place to start.

I am planning a weekend/2 day hike with a friend this spring. Hiking down from Mt. Graham. Dates have not yet been set, but let me know if you are interested in joining us.

llcoolbeans,
Try posting over at Backpacker.com on their Southwest forum
Backpacker SW Forum (http://www.backpacker.com/cgi-bin/forums/ikonboard.cgi?act=SF;f=603107219;st=40)
Here is a post from that site where someone was looking for SW hiking forums. Several more links listed in it.
SW Hiking Forums (http://www.backpacker.com/cgi-bin/forums/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=603107219;t=9991097274)
You could post looking for a hiking partner on their forum here: Find a Hiking Partner (http://www.backpacker.com/cgi-bin/forums/ikonboard.cgi?act=SF;f=822107219)

Also check out the Arizona Trail Forum here.

For getting into backpacking try googling "backpacking forums" and you will get a bunch of sites. Some of my favorite forums are located on these sites.
http://www.backpackinglight.com/cgi-bin/backpackinglight/forums/index.html
http://www.whiteblaze.net/forum/?
http://www.practicalbackpacking.com/forums/index.php and
http://www.backpacker.com/cgi-bin/forums/ikonboard.cgi?
and obviously http://forums.kifaru.net/ubbthreads.php?ubb=cfrm.
You may get more responses here posting in the Tipi, Shelters, & Camping forum. Just log on any of the sites and start asking questions! Most people love to help! You'll find both heavyweight to ultralight weight folks and everything in between! :0)

I've been negligent and haven't posted for a while so hope the hotlinks work!
Welcome to the forum!
Enjoy, Larry
