Here are a few photos of this years high buck hunt in the Glacier Peak Wilderness. The weather was the typical mixed bag. Had a great time. But I'm still holding my tag. I'll have to hold out for the general season. This was my hunting partners first year of back country hunting. After comparing packs, he is planning an order from Patrick.

The silly grin must be from the altitude,

We saw plenty of Bucks. But none that were just the right. When we set up in the basin in the photo. We had a giant 2x2 walk into our camp. He was a honest 26" buck with really good height, and had he had that one additional point....Oh well there is always next time.

Neat country Drath. Glad you had a fun time. I hope to someday be a good enough hunter to pass up 26" bucks! /images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/shocked.gif /images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Well I wouldn't have passed on him, not by a long shot, but it's a three point minimum here in WA. He passed through the camp at about fifty yards or so. I can't tell you how many times I counted those points in my scope....

That makes me feel better. That bucks genes might end up letting him live to a ripe old age if he stalls out at a 2pt.

Great photos. I have always wanted to hunt in this area but never seem to get the time. I am wondering which Kifaru pack you use for your day trips ?

RRH,

I use the Siwash. I have found it to be the perfect pack for up to three days. After that, I just can't stomach the freeze dried food.
I really should try and develop a better meal menu, but life always seems to get into the way.....Actually, as I type this, I realized that I take the Siwash with me on all of my hunts. It makes a great day pack, carrying the survival essentials, while hunting chuckar, grouse, quail, and pheasants. The only time I don't use it, is when I'm hunting waterfowl. Then I use a boat ;-}
