My King snake just gave me the slip the other day. He is gone. But I still have my albino Milk snake. Milk snakes are the best. Maybe next week I will add a photo of him to this thread. Funky looking thing.

Cool!
This guy just wandered into camp. Held him for a while and he only chomped me a few times before letting him go. The ones native to me don't have as bright of colors. This guy was beautiful!

My king snake would rattle it's tail like somekinda killer than bite me. Not missing him too much. That is a fine looking snake you found. The albino is both white and pinkish. Hard to explain but the photo will show.
Around my parts I find the following. Garter snakes, Milk snakes, Ring neck snakes, Green snakes, Copperheads, Blackracers, Common water snakes. The Timber rattler has been MIA.
Green snakes and Copperheads being the hardest to stumble on. Maybe low numbers or great camo. Copper heads bite if handled so I leave them alone. Like to keep my hands. /images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/eek.gif I once seen a Timber rattler many years ago but like box turtles their numbers seem to be on a sharp decline. But Red eared sliders and snapping turtles are rallying. Must have something to due good pond living away from roads.
Edit.
Things I have NEVER found.
Baby Box turtle.
5 lined skink.
Word is that this lizard lives in CT but darn if I ever saw it. Starting to wonder if these are more cottonmouth stories. I am sure you heard those. "There is this special swamp that has cottonmouths". Yea......

The pic in my avatar is a racer pic I took locally. He was about 5 foot.
I love the ringnecks, cant say enough about their colors!
Haven't seen a greenie in a while, years! Too many people?

Yea I guessed it was a racer. They tend to hang out in the same area so you may see him again. But I made the mistake of pulling an Irwin and picked one up. Nasty little bite and to add injury to insult he sprayed me with something nasty.
The green snakes are hard to see. The top green and the bottom lighter. Found them all the time on my grandfather's farm but this was 15 years ago. Time flies. Found one last year in the back yard but that is mostly farmland backed by railroad land backed by gun club/hunting land. However it seems they too are getting harder to find. My instinct is to always blame people myself included for the decline in numbers for these things. But I have seen very large coyotes that were never around when I was a kid. Add Fishers to that list of seemingly newer or reintroduced predators. Ran into one last winter. Black bear numbers are increasing and some guy at the gym told me he seen a mountain lion. Maybe all these predators have something to do with this or maybe it is just too many people moving out of the cities and into farmland. Heck if I know. Maybe the turkey invasion?/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/confused.gif

Yes, they will hang out if the food is good, but I doubt I'll be seeing him again since I always do the Irwin thing. I have gotten pretty good at picking them up without getting bit. It's a fun challenge since they are definitely one of the most aggressive types in this area along with water snakes, which I also like to catch. But anyway, once you pick them up, which I'm sure they don't appreciate, they usually move on.
I hunt (catch and release) racers all the time and even showed WoodlandGirl how to do it once. She was nervous at first, but ended up being successful without getting whacked. I was impressed!

I think this black rat snake has his mail delivered here. We see him every spring somewhere around or on the house:

He is also quite the tree climber but I rarely have my camera when I see him there. We're hoping our purple martin babies take wing soon before he climbs up for a visit.
